Tonga's only Olympic medallist to date is boxer Paea WOLFGRAMM. He took silver in the super heavyweights at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games.
His medal was unexpected as he had fought in only 24 bouts before the Games.

Siololovau IKAVUKA was the first Tongan woman to take part in the Olympic Games. She competed in discus and shot put at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games.
Sprinter Toluta'u KOULA became the first Tongan to take part in three consecutive Olympic Games. He competed in the men's 100m in 1992, 1996 and 2000. Tonga were represented by a team of three in Beijing competing in athletics and weightlifting.
